BOOK A TRIAL LESSON
Guitar
1.PERIOD (G1-G3)
Student will learn shorter pieces of one movement and be able to accompany songs with open chords and barre chords. Will learn diatonic scales in the 1st position, simple chord cadences, performing without notation, tuning the guitar. Students will learn the correct use of the pick, alternate picking technique, finger style picking and classical guitar ‘pima’ finger technique.
2.PERIOD (G3-G6)
Students will learn to control the duration and quality of the tone (strength, color) and widen the dynamic range. They will play demanding songs in various group settings and learn the basics of improvisation. They will learn to use technology in music (amplifiers, effect pedals, computers, recorders, cameras, phones, and other tools.) Students will develop a sense for dynamics, tempo, and will recognize examples, motives and imitations, styles of individual music periods and music genres. They will understand musical forms, place them in their historical context, and learn about the history and development of the guitar. Students will develop criteria for evaluating music by comparing their own performances with those of others (live appearances and recordings).
Bass Guitar
1.PERIOD (G1-G3)
Students will learn the role of a bass guitarist and the significance of mastering root notes, notes of the bass guitar strings and the fretboard. They will learn how to improvise or compose bass lines outlining chord sequences.
2.PERIOD (G3-G6)
Students will find practical use for the elements learned in musical theory and develop a strong sense for dynamics, tempo, and a solid groove. They will learn how to play walking bass lines over different chord progressions, covering various styles of music. Students will develop critical thinking and learn to assess their own performances.
